LaVon Ahrens Curtis, age 92, our loving mother and grandmother, a woman who faced life's challenges with a sense of humor, who loved good music, and who had a strong testimony and love of her LDS faith, returned to her Father in Heaven on February 24, 2004.

She was born July 18, 1911, in Mendon, Utah, to Bessie Sorensen and Walter D. Ahrens. She graduated from South Cache High School and LDS Seminary. She married William Martin Curtis in 1939, later solemnizing their vows in the Ogden LDS Temple. He died February 20, 1982. She was a full time homemaker while rearing her four children. She served in the Logan LDS 6th Ward Relief Society Presidency and as chorister. She lived most of her adult life in Logan before moving to Ogden.

She is survived by her four children, Dorothea, of Ogden, with whom she lived from 1991 until her death, Patricia of Shelter Island, NY, William (Alma) of Salt Lake City, and Ken of Logan, 18 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Helen Barnes of Bountiful and Jessie Spicker of Clearfield and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sisters: Nora Berntsen, Julia Muir, Rhoda Muir, her brothers: Clifford Ahrens and Rulon Ahrens, and three infant siblings.

The family is especially grateful for the tender and loving care given to our Mother by the staff at Crestwood Care Center and for the loving support given by Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 11 :00 a.m. on Friday, February 27, 2004 at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah. Friends and family are invited to a viewing Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday morning one hour prior to service at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Funeral arrangements by Allen-Hall Mortuary, Logan, Utah.

Mother, you were a gift we will always treasure. Thanks for all the loving memories you have given each of us. We love you. Condolences may be sent to the family on line at Allen-Hall Mortuary.
