Alvina Amy (Ahrens) (Goblirsch) Baker was born on 14 January 1915, in Beaver Falls Township, Renville County, Minnesota, to Henry August and Anna Wilhelmina (Schauer) Ahrens. She graduated from Morton High School, Morton, Renville County, Minnesota. Her graduation was held on Thursday, 1 June 1933, at 8:00 p.m. in the Morton Community Hall. Her best friend in high school was her cousin, Ina M. Ahrens.

She married Leo Michael Goblirsch on 26 November 1935, in St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Redwood Falls. They farmed about a mile from Bechyn, in Henryville Township, Renville County, Minnesota. Several years later, they moved "across the field" to the Goblirsch family farm, which they farmed until Leo's death on 13 November 1969. After his death, Alvina moved to Normandale Park in Redwood Falls.

On 9 June 1984, Alvina Amy married Cletus H. Baker, in Nashua, Iowa. He died on 15 September 1993.

Alvina was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Redwood Falls.

After Alvina suffered a stroke in March 2009, she was moved to the Sunwood Good Samaritan Center in Redwood Falls. On Thursday, 3 December, she was transferred to the Seasons Hospice.

Alvina Amy (Ahrens) (Goblirsch) Baker, died at the age of 94, on Friday, 4 December 2009, at the Seasons Hospice in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. Her death was subsequently caused by the stroke that she had suffered in March 2009.

She was survived by her sons: Robert Leo "Bob" of Belgrade, Gerald Francis "Gary" (Jeanne) of Redwood Falls, Richard Dale "Dick" (Kathy) of Deerwood, and Daryl Dennis (Linda) of Olivia; daughters: Ruth Ann "Ruthy" (Arthur) Sturgill of Alexandria, Virginia, and Darlene Marie (Jerry) Woods of Ontario, Canada; 27 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ada Rohlik of the Twin Cities.

Alvina was preceded in death by her 2 husbands, 2 grandchildren and 2 brothers.

Visitation for Alvina Amy was from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on 8 December, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Redwood Falls; and, for 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.

Her funeral services were held in the middle of "blizzard-like" conditions and a temperature of -25 degrees on Wednesday, 9 December 2009, at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Redwood Falls, Redwood County, Minnesota. Burial was at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in rural Redwood Falls, Redwood County, Minnesota.
