Oscar William Ahlstedt, son of Peter August and Christina Katherine Ahlstedt, was born November 7, 1870, at Keokuk, Ia., and departed this life January 15, 1956, at the Belleville hospital at Belleville, Kan., at the age of 85 years, 2 months and 8 days.
He came to Republic county, Kansas, at an early age and received his education in the public schools of Kansas.
On April 11, 1891, he was united in marriage to Louella G. Roberts. To this union was born one daughter, Grace. His wife Louella preceded him in death on May 5, 1947.
He was united in marriage to Ida Anderson on January 18, 1949. He was a member of the Fruit Hill United Brethren Church, and was active in the church as long as his health permitted.
[Oscar William Ahlstedt is survived by his wife Ida,] his daughter, Mrs. Ernest Johnson of Agenda, Kan.; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one nephew, Reuben Ahlstedt of Herrington, whom he helped rear; one step-son, Elmer E. Anderson, Belleville, Kan.; two step-daughters, Mrs. Henry Lisher and Mrs. William Anderson, both of Agenda, Kan.; ten step-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Services were held Wednesday, January 18 at two o'clock at the Agenda Methodist church with the Rev. Donald Sands officiating. Interment was in the Willoughby cemetery.
