His parents were William H. Ahlemeyer and Anna M. (Wellman) Ahlemeyer. He married 1st Anna C. Tapy, 2nd Nora E. Schopmeyer, daughter of William Schopmeyer and Margaret (Kattman) Schopmeyer.

HEART ATTACK PROVES FATAL TO ED AHLEMEYER

John Edward Ahlemeyer, aged 63 years, well known prominent farmer of near Poland, died suddenly late Monday afternoon of a heart attack on his farm in Cass Township. Mr. Ahlmeyer was at work in a field when he was fatally stricken.
Mr. Ahlemeyer was a son of William and Ann Wellman Ahlemeyer, early residents of that community. He was born in Cass Township where he had spent his entire life. Mr. Ahlemeyer had been an active member of the Zion Reformed and Evangelical Church near Poland since a young man.
Survivors are the widowrs. Nora Esther Ahlemeyer, and three sisters, Miss Amelia Ahlemeyer, Mrs. Sarah Huckride of Poland, and Mrs. Carl Schroer of Sheboygan, Wis.
The body was taken to the Schopenhorst Funeral Home of Clay City. Funeral services were held Wednesday afaternoon at Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church at Poland with the Rev. Walter Sherry officiating. Burial was made in the church cemetery adjoining.
