BOONSBORO - Arthur Franklin "Boots" Ahalt, 75, of 7814 Sharpsburg Pike, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 1997, at Reeders Memorial Home, Boonsboro.
Born Feb. 2, 1922, in Washington County, he was the son of the late Leon Franklin and Ida F. Price Ahalt.
He was of the Protestant faith.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served during World War II in the European Theater and Japan.
He retired from Fairchild Aircraft, after 43 years of service.
He was a member of United Auto Workers, Local 842; a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1936; and Eagles Inc. of Waynesboro, Pa.
He is survived by his wife, of 41 years, Mary Jane Spessard Ahalt; one stepson, Russell B. Wingerd of Boonsboro; two sisters, Leona Elliott of Hagerstown and Marie Strasbaugh of Baltimore; one brother, Lester Plume; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a twin brother, Allen L. Ahalt.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Loyal H. Vanderveer will officiate. Burial will be in Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery, Flintstone, Md.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Diabetes Association, 407 Central Ave., Reisterstown, Md. 21136; or to American Heart Association, 322-324 E. Antietam St., Suite 306-B, Hagerstown, Md. 21740.
