MRS. A. J. SCOTT OF GREENWOOD DIES.
Mrs. Maggie Agurs Scott, wife of A. J. Scott of Greenwood, died at a local hospital Tuesday afternoon.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p. m. Thursday at the Greenwood Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Greenwood (La.) cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath funeral home.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Scott is survived by two daughters, Mrs. D. A. Simpson, and Mrs. Will Arnold, five grandchildren, Mrs. Thomas Burke, Mrs. E. W. Bryson, Mrs. Edwin Higginbotham, William Arnold and D. A. Simpson, Jr.; three great-grandchildren, and two brothers, J. M. and W. C. Agurs.
Mrs. Scott was born at *Greenwood, the daughter of the late W. C. and Frances Agurs. She was educated at Keatchie College [DeSoto Parish]. She married in 1894 and would have soon observed her golden wedding.
Pallbearers will be J. H. Flournoy, E. S. Moncrief, Sidney Phillips, Haynes Dugan, Glenn Flournoy, J. B. Vaughan, John White and Cal Swanson.
*In the 1860 US Federal Census for Elysian Fields, Harrison County, Texas, W. C. Agurs and family, including 3 month old "Peggy" were enumerated in August.
