Verna Aguilar, 41, died on Saturday at St. Joseph Hospital after several years of failing health and several surgeries. Funeral services were Monday at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, with Rev. Fr. Robert Blanpied officiating. Burial was in the Del Norte cemetery.
Verna was the daughter of Felix and Louisa Abeyta and was born in Del Norte February 18, 1933. She and Ernest Aguilar were married in 1953. She attended the Del Norte schools.
She is survived by her husband; daughter, Elaine; her parents; brothers, John, Art, Mel, and Lubin Velasquez and Raymond and Sammy Abeyta; three sisters, Mary Gallegos and Jeannie Abeyta, all of the foregoing from Del Norte; and Martha Reedy of Danville, Pennsylvania.
