Founder of the town of Agnew, California - He settled in the Santa Clara Valley in 1873 and in June of 1889, the Town of Agnews was officially recorded by Abram Agnews. He owned 115 acres of productive land, situated at Agnew Station, on the South Pacific Coast Railway built in 1878 on land deeded over by Agnew. The California Hospital for the Chronic Insane at Agnews was established in 1885 and was renamed Agnews State Hospital in 1898.
