She is the former Gladys Aggen born June 27, 1921 in New Holstein, daughter of the late Hugo and Nina Luehrs Aggen. Gladys was a 1939 graduate of New Holstein High School and also attended Oshkosh Business College. On April 25, 1942, she married James Weir in New Holstein. Her husband, James, preceded her in death on April 4, 2000. Gladys was employed as a bookkeeper at the former Davis Dime Store and Schulz Bros. in New Holstein until her retirement.
She was a member of Calumet and Green Bay Embroiders Guilds of America. Gladys enjoyed embroidering, knitting, sewing, stitching and smocking.
Survivors include her four children, Jean (Bob) Bilot of Lutz Fla., Norman (Ina) Weir of Palatine, III., Alan (MariJane) Weir of New Holstein and Jim (Penny) Weir, of Hilbert. She is further survived by 11 grandchildren, Daniel Bilot, Jeff (Jennifer) Bilot, Stacy (Spencer) King, Steven Weir, Erin Thiede, Scott, Jonathan, Jennifer and Kathryn Weir and Samantha and Alexa Weir; one great-grandchild, Tyson King; and one sister-in-law, Edythe Aggen, New Holstein.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Glenroy Aggen.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 20, at the Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 Sixth St., Kiel, with the Rev. Raymond C. Coombs officiating. Burial will take place in the New Holstein City Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in her name.
