Dorothy A. Agena, 53, of R.R. 1 Sterling, died in a Lincoln Hospital Thursday, July 9, 1981. She was born at Meridian, Kansas. on July 10, 1927 and moved to Tecumseh as a young child.
She lived most of her life in the Tecumseh and Sterling areas. In 1945 she graduated from Tecumseh High School. She worked for the Campbell Soup factory for 22 years and was a member of the Amalgamated Meat Cutters & Butchers of North America.
She was a member of St. John's American Lutheran Church of Sterling.
Survivors include her husband, Harm: two sons, Randy of Sterling and Leslie of Lincoln; four brothers, Donald Mattox of Huntsville, Ala. Boyd Mattox of Fremont, Nebr. Dale Mattox of Bartlesville, Okla. and David Mattox of Hallam, Nebr. ; two sisters, Mrs. Paul (Mary) Wentzl of Steinauer, Nebr. and Mrs. Merle Nootz of Omaha, Nebr. ; and one granddaughter.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday July 13, from St. John's American Lutheran Church in Sterling, with Pastor Don A. Wilken officiating. Burial was in the Sterling Cemetery.
Organist was Alice Weis and Soloist Annetta Geismann sang "Come Ye Disconsolate ." The congregation sang "Rock of Ages."
A memorial fund has been established to the Cancer Society with Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Geismann in charge. A friendly prayer service was held at 9:45 a.m. in the church basement. Zink Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Neeman, Beldon Christlline, Paul Conradi, Louis Boeve, Norman Hestermann and Herman Behrends.
