Good Veteran Dies
Another of Cedartown's good veteran's has crossed over the river to join his old comrades, most of whom have long preceded him. Mr. P.M. Agan passed away yesterday morining, after an illness of several days. He was in his eighty-fifth year, but was a man of indomitable industry, and was working actively at his trade as a brick mason when taken sick. He took marked pride in the fact that he could do as much work in a day as any younger members of his craft.
The deceased was born in Gwinnett county on Dec. 22, 1839, the son of Wm. Henry and Margaret Gresham Agan. His first wife was Miss Irene Atkins. his second, who survives him, was Miss Mary Baldwin. There are six surviving children--Mrs. J.H. Preble of Caspar, Wyo., Mrs. N.R. Hartley of Decatur, Mrs. P.L. Smith of Birmingham, Mrs. Sam Adams of Jacksonville, Ala., Mssrs. E.C. and Percy M. Agan of Birmingham and Gadsden.
Mr. Agan was an excellent citizen, highly esteemed by all who knew him, and was ordained a Baptist minister May 10, 1886. He founded the Eastview Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at the residence on Central street at 9 o'clock this morning.
