Freda H. Tignor, 95, of Sykesville, died Monday, July 22, 2013, at Gilchrist Hospice Care Center in Columbia. Born Aug. 21, 1917, in Ellicott City, she was the daughter of the late August and Matilda Hepner Affeldt. She was the wife of the late Grady T. Tignor. She had been a waitress and homemaker for many years. She worked for 25 years for McDougall's Pharmacy in Sykesville and was referred to as "Miss Freda." Surviving are son and daughter-in-law Donald M. and Pili Tignor, of Delaware; daughters and sons-in-law Shelby Jean and Bill Edmondson, of Sykesville, and Sharon and Richard Jordan, of Eldersburg; a daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Tignor, of Sykesville; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, David R. Tignor; daughters Barbara Ann Dayhoff and Ruby Lee Tignor; and grandchildren David Tignor Jr. and Brandon Tignor. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Lynnmarie Hinerman officiating. Interment will be in Springfield Cemetery in Sykesville.
