DeWitt Fred Aebly, 86, of Jonesboro, AR., formerly of West Helena, AR., passed away peacefully January 9, 2012, after a brief illness.

He was born May 24, 1925, in Zion, IL, to Fred and Jessie Galloway Aebly.

He served as an Army/Air Corp cadet during World War II. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Helena-West Helena in 1984 and from Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in 2005. He was an active member of Nettleton Baptist Church in Jonesboro.

DeWitt is survived by his wife, Frances Warren Aebly; his son, DeWitt Aebly, Jr. (Melisa) of Vilonia; his daughters, Donna Catlett of Jacksonville and Sandra Dillier (David) of West Helena; step-daughters, Eva Williams (Jim) of Furlow and Pam Watkins (Jim) of Jonesboro; six grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five step-great-grand-children and a sister, Barbara Holmgren of Panama City, FL.

DeWitt was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Nina Bullard Aebly; his stepson, Stewart Warren; a son-in-law, Gary Catlett; and a daughter-in-law, Marcia Aebly.

Arrangments were by: Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Graveside funeral services were at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena, AR.
