Son of Jack & Iva Bobbie Adrian
Edwin Michael Adrian, age 56, of West Union, Iowa, passed away Friday, September 2nd 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, following a brief illness.
Ed was born on April 27th 1955 to Jack and Iva (Bobbie) Adrian in Postville, Iowa. He graduated in 1974 from Valley of Elgin High School. On September 2nd, 1978, Ed was united in marriage to Debra Smith at First Lutheran Church, in Decorah, Iowa. For the past 33 years, Ed and Deb, along with their three children, have made West Union their home.
For a number of years, Ed worked for Dura in West Union in the quality control area. Over the years, Ed earned three Associate Degrees from Northeast Iowa Community College. Most recently, Ed was awarded a degree in Accounting, graduating with honors this past May 2011. While at NICC, Ed was member of Phi Theta Kappa and S.T.E.P.
Ed was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in West Union. He was a past president of the Zion Church Council, served on the Intern Support and Endowment Trust Committee, a Luther League sponsor, a confirmation guide and a mentor to confirmation students. Ed was past president of Iowans for International Adoption; additionally he and Deb served as host parents, sponsoring a high school exchange student HooIn Jeong. Ed was an advocate for the sight impaired, working with the Iowa Department of the Blind. He was also a member of the West Union Jaycees.
Ed was an avid sports fan. He was a videographer, filming the games for 30 years for the North Fayette Football and also filmed Varsity Wrestling. In addition to this, he spent many years helping time events at the North Fayette Track meets, served as coach for Luther League Softball and North Stars Baseball.
He enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears football games, spending time with this four-legged friend "MidKnight", but most of all, loved spending time with family and friends.
Ed believed in giving and demonstrated this by his donating blood, giving over three gallons of blood over the years. As well, upon his death, Ed became a tissue donor through the Iowa Donor Network.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Deb Adrian of West Union, IA; three children, Michael Adrian of Des Moines, IA, Matthew Adrian of New London, IA and Molly Adrian of Estherville, IA; his mother, Iva Adrian of West Union, IA; his sister, Jackie Adrian of Ankeny, IA; two nieces, Mandy Roe of Ankeny, IA and Adrian (Curtis) Noteboom of Ankeny and sons, IA; his mother-in-law, Luann Smith of Decorah, IA and his sister-in-law, Rhonda (Tim) Bleadorn of Waverly, IA and sons.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jack Adrian and his father-in-law, Norman Smith.
