Barbara was the daughter of John Lazena and Elizabeth Dilbone.
Barbara was about 15 years and 11 months old when she married John Adney. It was said of Barbara Adney by her grandchildren that at the age of sixteen, the time of her marriage, she did not know as much as "yes" or "no" in English. Yet somehow John Adney and she managed to understand each other.
Barbara was half French and half Dutch. Barbara was a brunette with very dark hair (with not a grey hair found at the time of her death), rather short, stocky - not the tall Nordic type. Her eyes were probably very dark brown tho not black.
