Obituary (written by a friend)

John W. Admire, son of [my ancestor] JOHN ADMIRE and Sena Elizabeth (Fletcher) Admire, was born May 5, 1857 in Jasper County, Illinois and departed this life at his home in Roodhouse, Illinois at 6:20 Thursday evening May 25, 1916 age 59 years and 20 days. He was the second of a family of four children. One brother, James A. and one sister Eliza A. preceding him to the yonder shore.
He is survived by one sister, Juliet V. Hardwick of Kane, Illinois. Also two half sisters, JANE ADCOCK [my ancestor] of Carrollton, Illinois and Mary Barrett of Arkansas and one half brother, Henry C. Admire of McKanda, Illinois.
The deceased with his parents moved to Greene Co. when he was about five years old, locating on a farm near Woodville. In 1878 he was married to Ida J. Buris of Winchester, Illinois taking up married life on a farm near Woodville, where two children, Luther L. and Katie A. were born. They with their mother preceding the deceased to the other world.

Later in 1883 he was married to Julia A. Hardwick, locating in Missouri, returning in about six months to Illinois and moved on his father's farm east of Roodhouse, later moving to Roodhouse where he resided unti lhis death. Of this union three children were born. William A. who died in infancy, Charles Thomas of Arkansas, and Lawrence Clay of Roodhouse, who with their mother and a host of relatives are left to mourn their loss.

The deceased united with the Forest Oak Baptist Church near Woodvillel when 18 years of age, never movng his membership until death. He was a kind and loving father, a worthy and respected citizen, neighbor and friend. The deceased joined the Mona Baraca Bible of the Baptist sunday School in Roodhouse May 9, 1915 and was a faithful member until fall when he was taken to his bed, being confined 15 weeks until his death.

He often spoke of the class during his sickness, enjoyed the members visits, and spoke of the enjoyment he got from hearing the lesson deiscussions and expressed his hope of again being able to attend the class sessions.

He bore his suffering with patience and Christian fortitude. Thursday morning he called his family to his bedside and told them that he would soon have to leave them, that Jesus was calling and he must go saying that he was ready and willing to go. Once more vacant place in the family circle here, but one added to the circle on yonder shore. Finally may the circle be again comlete to enjoy God's presence forever more.

I couldn't find his tombstone when I visited the Fernwood Cemetery in Roodhouse several years back.
