Artie L. Coy, 85, of Owensboro died Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, at Hillcrest Healthcare Center in Owensboro. A native of Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Ken and Mary Pendleton Adkisson. She was retired from the Daviess County School System, where she was the lunchroom manager at Stanley School. She was a member of Stanley Baptist Church and enjoyed spoiling and spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, A.D. Coy, in 1971; a son, Charles Coy; brothers, Lewis and Thomas Adkisson; and a sister, Dolly Burden. She is survived by two daughters, Mary L. Hundley of Stanley and Martha (Dean) Jones of Arizona; three sons, Richard (Shelia) Coy and James (Tammy) Coy, both of Owensboro, and William "Bill" (Sandi) Coy of Rockport, Ind.; a brother, Ken (LouEmma) Adkisson of Owensboro; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services are at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after noon Thursday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 1900 Richmond Road, Lexington, KY 40502.
