The Rev. Namon L. Adkins, 59, of the Pinecrest Community, died Saturday evening at the Veterans Hospital in Nashville.

He was an ordained minister and a member of the Red Ash Baptist Church in Caryville and was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans of LaFollette.

The funeral was Tuesday at Red Ash Baptist Church with the Revs. Don and Walter Allen officiating. Burial was in the Indian Creek Cemetery. Martin's Funeral Home, LaFollette, was in charge of arrangments.

Mr. Adkins is survived by his wife, Louise Adkins of Pinecrest; three sons, Thomas Adkins of Galliano, La., James Adkins of LaFollette, and Namon Lewis Adkins II of Pinecrest; three daughters, Ruby Adkins of LaFollette, Helen Evans of Galliano and Mary Heatherly of Pinecrest; a step-brother, Coy Wright of Clinton; three sisters, Ruth Nichols of Goldberg, N.C. and Helen Stringer and Dorothy Crowley, both of Clinton; a half-sister, Odessa Byrge of Harriman, a step-sister, Helen Harness of Cookeville; six grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
