James W. Adkins, age 69, of Ancil Leach Hollow, Williamsburg, Kentucky departed this life on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at his home He was born on March 11, 1945 in Walsh, Kentucky to the late Oscar Adkins and Lizzie Carr Adkins. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, James Adkins Jr.; five brothers, Alva Adkins, Joe Adkins, Harold Adkins, Donald Adkins and Frank Adkins; one sister, Betty Wilbur and a grandson, Matthew Adkins. He was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from General Motors of Toledo, Ohio.


He is survived by his wife, Linda Marie Siler Adkins of Williamsburg, Kentucky; two children, Lisa Nichols and her husband Kevin of Greenup, Kentucky and Mary Sue Crisp and her husband Randy of Flatwoods, Kentucky; two step-children, Rena Thornton and her husband Jim and Tammy Lawson and her husband Tim of Williamsburg, Kentucky; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; two sisters, Louise Griffith and Alberta Stephens of Greenup, Kentucky; one brother, Bobby Adkins of Greenup, Kentucky; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.


Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel.


Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ewell "Jam Up" Lawson and Rev. Steve Stephens officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Clearfork Cemetery. Military Graveside Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #88 of Corbin, Kentucky. Jim Thornton, Jimmy Thornton Jr., Timothy Lawson, Chris Powers, Casey Jones and Scott Griffith will serve as pallbearers.
