Emarine Leach Keeney Adkins
Birth: Apr. 9, 1834
Death: Jan. 30, 1894

Emarine Leach Keeney, daughter of Michael and Polly Keeney who lived at foot of the ridge just southeast of present Lake City, Tenn. As names indicate they were Irish both "Michael" and "Keeney" being very distinct Irish names.

Note the practical way of wearing the hair as a farmer wife who worked from 5:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. raising eight children. She literally "worked herself to death". Rev. Thornton Sharp noted at the funeral she was "Now she's at rest", an actual sacrifice of her life to her husband and family. There were satisfactions but not any "fun", as we call it, in her life."
