Harold S. Adkins

Harold S. "Buster" Adkins, 77, of Hinton, went to be with the Lord at 3:49 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, at Summers County Appalachian Regional Hospital following a long illness.

Born March 28, 1927, in Summers County, he was the son of the late James Simms and Bertha Mae Adkins.

Buster was retired from the City of Hinton with 44 years of service. He was a United States Army veteran of WW II. He attended Hinton First Church of the Nazarene and had lived all of his life in Summers County.

Buster was a devoted husband of 54 years, and a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Virgil Adkins; two sisters, Margaret Bennett and Ruby Adkins; a grandchild, Angela Adkins; and two great-grandchildren, Timothy Trout and Amanda Brittinger.

Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Adkins; three sons, Dickie and wife, Joyce Adkins, Donald and wife Debbie Adkins, and Nicki and wife, Rhonda Adkins, all of Hinton; four daughters, Judy Epperly and husband, Doug, Brenda Trout and husband, Ralph, Doris Cook and companion, Nick Degroff, Lisa Buckland and husband, Ronald, all of Hinton; a brother, Carl and wife, Dorothy Adkins of Hinton; a sister, Jane Spade of Hinton; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Service was 2 p.m. Thursday, January 27 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel, Hinton, with Pastors Eddie Crews, Ray Martin and Dallas Peyton officiating. Burial followed in the Adkins Cemetery near Hinton.

Friends called 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 26 at the funeral home.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.
