Elizabeth Clyde Aderhold
Athens - Dr. Elizabeth Clyde Aderhold died Tuesday, December 30, 2008.
Born in Athens, Ga., she was the daughter of the former President of the University of Georgia, Dr. O.C. Aderhold and Mrs. Bess Aderhold. She was educated in the Athens schools, graduating from Athens High School and obtaining her doctorate from the University of Georgia in Childhood Education.
As the daughter of the President of the University of Georgia, Dr. Aderhold, affectionately known as "BeBe", spent her entire life working on behalf of the University of Georgia by hosting visitors, donors and dignitaries in the President's home.
She was retired from the University of Georgia where her most important role was her many years teaching, mentoring and encouraging young teachers from the UGA's College of Education in their career choices.
She was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority, Delta Kappa Gamma and an honorary society and was an avid Gym Dog fan.
A lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Athens, Dr. Aderhold is survived by several cousins. Her only brother, Omer C. Aderhold Jr., predeceased Dr. Aderhold.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 2, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Sexton's House at Oconee Hill Cemetery. Services will be conducted by Dr. Jon Appleton.
