Husband of Lizzie May Hawkins and Cora Gilbert. Son of Isom Adcock and Didema Kelsey

Chariton, Iowa
Thursday, February 11, 1937

Elmer Daniel Adcock, son of Isom and Didema Adcock, was born April 4, 1871, in Monroe county, Iowa, and departed this life at his home near Chariton on Friday, Feb. 5, 1937, at the age of 65 years, 10 months and 1 day.

His entire life was spent on a farm in Monroe county until the last eight years when he lived near Chariton.

He was united in marriage to Lizzie Hawkins in 1894, who preceded him in death. To them one daughter was born, Mrs. Hazel Mason, of Chariton, Iowa. Later he was married to Cora Gilbert in 1899. To this union five children were born, Clem, Gerald and Byron, of Chariton, Mrs. Mabel Gladson, of Melrose, and Thelma, who died in December, 1914.

Mr. Adcock was converted in 1916 into the Pentecostal faith and he remained true to his convictions to the end.

He leaves to mourn their loss his wife, his daughters, Mrs. Hazel Mason and Mrs. Mabel Gladson, and his sons, Clem, Gerald and Byron Adcock; three brothers, John Adcock, of Chariton; Delmar Adcock, of Salem, Mo.; Oliver Adcock, of Council Bluffs; three sisters, Mrs. Rettie Esshom, of Chariton; Mrs. Jennie Chambers, of Cheyenne, Wyo.; Mrs. Rosa Foutch, of Council Bluffs; and many other relatives.

Mr. Adcock was a kind and devoted husband and father, and ever had a cheery smile and a wave of the hand for those with whom he came in contact. Even to the last he thought of others before himself. He will be greatly missed in the home and community.

Largely attended funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Assembly of God church, conducted by Rev. Bob Penland, of Des Moines, assisted by Rev. Everett Hollingshead, of Chariton. The floral tributes were profuse and beautiful. Burial was in the Chariton cemetery.
