Augustus Emory Adamson II was born to Linton Mallory Adamson and Geneva Power Adamson in Clayton County, Georgia. He was the eldest of nine children. He was named after his father's twin brother. His siblings were: Annie Ellen Adamson James 1907-1977; Margie Allene Adamson Petty 1909-1996; Linton Lamar Adamson 1911-1992; Nellie Fay Adamson Dalick 1915-1952; Mary Wynette Adamson Ragsdale 1916-2007; Bertyce Carole Adamson Bryan 1918-2001; Ray Power Adamson 1920-1992; Linton Mallory Adamson 1922-1969. He came from a large and influential family descended from the Maryland Adamson family. He was a United States Postal Inspector and when he lived in West Plains, Missouri,he met and married Susan Bernice Beasley Adamson on June 16, 1938. In July, 1940, they increased their family with twin daughters - Janice Adamson and Janet Adamson Haynie who died on August 27, 1971, leaving a husband and a 15-month old daughter, Susan Mallory Haynie. In August of 1943, another daughter was added to the Adamson family, Julia A. Adamson. Augustus Emory Adamson II was a true Southern gentleman and when he met our mother, we are told that he thought she was a most beautiful woman,and as a true gentleman he asked one of his friends to introduce her to him. Their honeymoon was spent in Europe. He loved his family and friends, and we miss and love him very much.
