DECATUR -- The Rev. Edward D. Adamski, 66, pastor of St. James Catholic Church, Decatur, died 11:56 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 18, 1990) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Mass of the Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Saturday in St. James Church, with
visitation 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, both in the church. J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be Monday in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Niles. Memorials: St. James Church.
The Rev. Adamski was born in Chicago, son of Michael and Marianna Snarski Adamski. He graduated from St. Hyacinth Grade School and Weber High School. He attended St. Louis University and received his bachelor's degree from St. Mary's College, Orchard Lake, Mich.
He studied for the priesthood and was ordained at Kenrick Seminary, St. Louis.
First appointment following ordination was assistant pastor of St. Paul's Church, Highland. He was named an assistant at St. Patrick Church, Decatur, in 1952; assistant at St. Anthony Church, Effingham, in 1955; and assistant at Sts. Peter & Paul Church, Springfield, in 1958.
The Rev. Adamski was named pastor of St. Michael's Church, Hume, in 1960 and pastor of St. Joseph's, Mount Sterling, in 1969. Father Adamski had served as pastor at St. James Church since Nov. 4, 1970. He was a member of Knights of Columbus No. 577.
Surviving are his aunt, Emily Kotowski of Chicago; dear friends and co-workers, Mrs. Sunshine Goetz and Rita Austin, both of Decatur; numerous cousins in Chicago and Canada.
One brother and two sisters preceded him in death.
