Gayle passed away on Monday, March 24, 2014 in West Linn, Oregon with her loving husband and daughter by her side. Nine-plus years of dealing with the affects of Alzheimer's Disease finally came to an end.

Gayle was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ed O. and Irene B. Platt on May 29, 1927.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and sisters, Donnette Simonson, Carolyn Griffiths, and Kathleen "Kay" Wyatt. Gayle is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, John H. Adams; sister, Pat Stephens Ericson; son, John P. Adams; and daughters, Carah (Matt) Markstaller and Kelly (Scott) Holbrook. She also leaves behind her seven incredible grandchildren, Ian, Ammon, Alexandra, Arron, Rachel, Jennifer, and Hannah.

Gayle spent her youth in the Salt Lake Valley, attending East High and the University of Utah, where she was an active member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority and involved with more activities than can be mentioned.

She worked in the FBI office in Salt Lake City, was trained in architectural drawing, and as busy as she could be, would always find a way to have fun.

She met John, the love of her life, at the "U" and after years of dating were married in April of 1952. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1970. They traveled the west from Wyoming, Colorado, California, Oregon, Salt Lake City, and back to California in Walnut Creek to stay in 1970.

Gayle always had a love for art, music, sewing, creating, and sports. Gayle was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her entire life.

She learned from her parents and sisters at a young age that it is good to give and help. She spent her life doing just that. She had lifelong friendships from every place that she lived. She was truly a unique person. She has been missed for some time already.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 4, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Valley View Stake Center, 2245 East 3900 South, East Millcreek, where a viewing will be held from 1:00-1:45 p.m. prior to the services.
Interment will follow in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
