The community has sustained a great loss in the death of Mrs John Adams, whose husband died three years ago. Mrs. Adam's maiden name was Ellen Jack, and she was a native of Richmond, Me. She leaves a son, who was in New Orleans at the time of her death, and two daughters, Mrs. Benj. Ladd and Mrs N Cortelle of Attleboro, Mass. The funeral was conducted under the auspices of the Eastern Star, Rev. George E Allan offciating. The quartet, composed of Mr Foster Reed, Mrs Samuel Reed, Mrs James O Seavey and Miss Florence Burnham, sang, "One Sweetly Solemn Thought," "Some Day the Silver Cord Will Break" and "Peace Be to Thee." It was an impressive funeral, worthy of the memory of a most estimable lady, full of good works in church and society, always mindful of others in her selfforgetfulness. The community is better for her having lived. We are left growing old, but she has touched the strand of immortal youth and beauty. Such is the benefaction that comes to true souls with the transition we call death.
