Colleen graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1944 and received a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, in 1948.
Colleen taught elementary physical education in the Kansas City, Missouri, Public Schools from 1948 until she retired in 1985. Her Master of Arts in 1953 was from Teachers College of Columbia University, New York City. The 1959-1960 school year was spent as a physical education teacher in a Department of Defense elementary school in Munich, Germany.
She was a life long Methodist and was a member of Central United Methodist church in Kansas City. She was a member of its Joanna Guild. She was a member and former president of Chi Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma Society. She was an over fifty year member and former president of chapter DR, P.E.O. Sisterhood. She served twelve years as a trustee on the board of the Retirement Systems of the Kansas City Schools.
Colleen was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her sister, Barbara (Adams) Reese of Omaha, NE; brother Donald G. Adams and wife Alberta of Plano, TX; niece, Molly (Reese) Stacey and her husband Dr. Richard Stacey and their two children Courtney and Austin of Omaha, NE; other relatives and many friends.
