Miss Ann Willis was born in Worcester Co., Md., July 24, 1829, a daughter of Thomas and Mary (Pope) Willis, also natives of that state, who in 1840 brought their family to Rock Island County, Illinois, and made a home on the bluffs south of Watertown in Hampton Township. There the father, who was a farmer by occupation, spent his remaining days.

Ann Willis married Ephraim Adams on November 2, 1848. Mr. and Mrs. Adams began their domestic life in Hampton, where he conducted a blacksmith shop for some time, but later turned his attention to agricultural pursuits.

Mrs. Adams proved herself full worthy as the companion and helpmeet of this excellent man, and most satisfactorily settled the estate after his death. There were five children born to them. Emma Euella is the wife of Oscar Bysant, of Moline, and has two children, Murton and Clare. Clara A. married George F. Holland, a native of Weedsport, New York, who was highly educated and was a bookkeeper in Chicago at the time of his death, which occurred in December, 1892, when he was fifty-three years of age. Joseph W., a resident of Mason City, Iowa, married Alice Vincent and has two children- Joseph W. and Stella. Myra is the wife of Ship Silvis, of Carbon Cliff, and has one child, Marguerita. Harry B., also of Mason City, Iowa, married Rena Farror and has one child.

Mr. Adams died in 1888 of a paralytic stroke. His wife died in 1920.
