Carmie Alice Brattain, daughter of R. H. and Minnie Brattain was born in Warsaw, Iowa, May 31, 1896. Her entire life has been spent in this same neighborhood. On Aug. 29, 1915 she was married to Geo. W. Adams of Sewal, Iowa. During their married life they have lived in Corydon about one year and also at Powersville, Mo., about three years, but at present their home was on the farm about four miles west of Sewal.
To this union were born two children, Lyle Wilbert, a little son about five years old and an infant daughter who was only about four or five hours old when the mother passed away.
Carmie always was a very quiet gentle girl and during the meetings at the United Brethren Church held by Rev. Hiddleson in the winter of 1913 and 1914 she was converted and joined the United Brethren Church at this place. She always retained her membership at this place although she attended other churches while living at other places.
She passed away at the home of her father and mother in Sewal after but a short but serious illness on Friday morning, Feb. 3, leaving her husband and two children, father and mother, two sisters, three brothers and a great host of other relatives and friends. Her age was 25 years, 8 months and 2 days.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Murphy of Powersville, Mo., at the United Brethren Church at Sewal on Sunday, Feb. 5th at 11 A.M. Interment was made at the Shriver cemetery near Harvard.
