Cecile Browne Adams PORTSMOUTH - Cecile Browne Adams, 94, a lifelong resident of Portsmouth died peacefully Wednesday, June 2, 2010. She was born Sept. 14, 1915 the daughter of the late Harry Bailey and Fannie (Langhorne) Browne. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Charles Emette Adams III in 1994. Also preceding Mrs. Adams were her twin, Harry B. Browne and siblings Frances, Langhorne, Elizabeth, and Lisle. Mrs. Adams was member of Centenary United Methodist Church, a typist for Seaboard Railroad and was a past president of the Portsmouth Women's Club. Mrs. Adams is survived by her New England family; nephews, Charles E. Adams, James P. Adams, Richard Ames Adams; nieces, Jeanette E. Biery and Mary Beth Bilotta. She is also survived by several local nieces and nephews. A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held Monday, June 7, at 10 a.m. at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. She suggested memorial contributions be made to her church, Centenary United Methodist Church.
