James Monroe Adams, of South Boston, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011 at The Woodview.
He was born in Durham, N.C. on June 23, 1939, a son of the late James Elwood Adams and Doris Canada Adams and was married to the late Maggie Jones Adams.
He attended Freedom Worship Center.
He is survived by three brothers, Billy Adams and wife Paulette of Greensboro, N.C., Tommy Adams and wife Shirley of Waverly, Joseph Adams and wife Laura of Richmond; three sisters, Faye A. Wilbourne and husband Raymond of South Boston, Wanda A. Moore and husband Robert of Halifax, Johnsia Adams of Appomattox; daughter-in-law, Rosa Lloyd of Nathalie; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Lee Adams and one son, Jimmie Lloyd.
A funeral was held Saturday at Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Whitlow officiating. Burial followed in Halifax Memorial Gardens.
