Mabel Lassiter Adams, widow of Clarence A. Adams Sr., died on December 13, 2003 at age 84.
She is survived by her son, Clarence A. Adams Jr., and daughter-in-law, Margaret. Also surviving are her grandson, Chris L. Adams and his wife, Pam; granddaughter, Janice A. Hicks and her husband, Willie Jr.; and grandson, John D. Adams and his wife, Tammy. There are five great-grandchildren, Ryan, Michael, Paige, Amethyst and Amber. Also surviving are two sisters, Pattie L. Porch of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., and Sara L. Hudson of Valentines, Va.; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
A native of Northampton Co., N.C., she was preceded in death by her parents, James and Emma Lassiter; her brothers, George, Herman, Floyd and Johnny; and her sisters, Penny Reese Draper, Fannie Belle Bolton, Ruby Bridgers and Cora King.
Mabel was a retired employee of Ukrop's Super Markets. A longtime member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Richmond, she taught a youth Sunday School class for years. Currently she was a member of Ebony Assembly of God Church, Ebony, Va. A believer in supporting your local church, the family asks you to honor her wishes that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Building Fund of Ebony Assembly of God Church or your own church.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, December 16, at 10 a.m. in Dale Memorial Park , Chesterfield County, Va., with Rev. Steve Gulbronsen officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, December 15, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wrenn Funeral Home, 1015 West Fifth St., Roanoke Rapids, N.C.
