Laymond Ellis (Lea) Adams, 83, of Monroe, VA. died Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the husband of Anne Ramsey Adams for 60 years.

Born in Lowesville, VA. October 1, 1927 he was a son of the late Samuel T. Adams and Lelia Martin Adams. In addition to his parents, Lea was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.



In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Jeffrey L. Adams; a grandson James Perry Adams both of Fredericksburg; and a sister, Angeline Stephens of Lynchburg, VA.

Lea served his country in the U.S. Navy; he was a graduate of Lynchburg College and retired from the Central Intelligence Agency. He was a member of Ascension Episcopal Church in Amherst, VA.

The funeral service will be at 1PM Saturday, July 9, 2011, at Ascension Episcopal Church, 253 S. Main Street, Amherst, VA, with the Rev. Dr. Glenn Busch and the Rev. Deacon Katharine Chase officiating. The family will greet friends in the church parish hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boy's Home, Covington, VA. 24426, or Ascension Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 810, Amherst, VA 24521.
