Montclair Aviator Dies Following Accident in France

Cablegram Received Yesterday by his Father, Major W. I. Lincoln Adams--
"Multiple Injuries" Ascribed as Cause of Death -- Was Formerly Engaged in ambulance service at Front --Latest Montclair High School boy to meet death in Service


Another Montclair High School boy, Briggs K. Adams, son of Major W.I. Adams and Mrs. Adams, of Llewellyn road, has been recorded as a victim of the great war.

Major Adams yesterday received a cablegram announcing the death on Thursday in France of his son, Lieutenant Briggs K. Adams, of the Royal Flying Corps. "Multiple injuries resulting from an accident" was the brief statement of the cause of the young man's death, no details of the accident being given.

Lieutenant Adams, who was twenty-four years old, enlisted in the Royal Flying Corps in December of last year, and about the first of March was ordered to go to France from England. While in the latter country he was regarded as among the best aviators that have gone from America. He established the speed record of England before going to France. The young man was a graduate of Montclair High School and Harvard University. In 1916 he served with the American Ambulance Corps in France.

Besides his parents, Lieutenant Adams is survived by a sister, Mrs. Pfaeizer, wife of Lieutenant O.D. Pfaeizer, of this town, who is also in service, and two brothers, Wilson I. Adams and W.I. Adams Jr.. The father of the dead aviator, Major Adams, has been in service of the Quartermaster's Department in New York since shortly after war was declared against Germany.
