Clyde Ottway Adams

Mr. Adams served in the US Army during WWII, in the Pacific, in the Bushmasters Infantry Battalion, where he was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement along the coast of New Guinea during the period of January through September 1944. In 1945, he was assigned to the US Air Force and retrained as an aircraft mechanic. After 21 years of service to his country, he retired from military life.
In 1962, he began a new career as a Pringle Ford car salesman, where he was awarded Salesman of the Month many times and he was a member of the 500 Club. In 1976, Mr. Adams Joined the sales force at Dees Chevrolet Company in Biloxi. In 1984, he retired to working in his shed on lawn-mowers and doing some fishing. His life revolved around his family and he is greatly missed, but he left some wonderful memories.






Clyde Ottway Adams, 81, of Biloxi, Mississippi, died Thursday, April 14, 2005 in Biloxi. He was born November 19, 1923 in Cumberland, to Frank and Jesse Walton Adams.Mr. Adams served in the US Army during WWII, in the Pacific, in the Bushmasters Infantry Battalion, where he was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement along the coast of New Guinea during the period of January through September 1944. In 1945, he was assigned to the US Air Force and retrained as an aircraft mechanic. His life revolved around his family and he is greatly missed, but he left some wonderful memories.He was preceded in death by his parents: his brothers, Walton, John Samuel, and Thomas Adams; and his sister, Martha Keller.He is survived by his wife, Thelma Louise Griffin Adams;his two daughters, Frances Good of Mandeville, LA and Peggy Adams of Brooklyn, NY;his two brothers, William Harvey Adams of Raleigh, NC and George "Buster" Adams of Cumberland; his sister, Joyce Adams Beasley of Raleigh, NC; his four grandchildren, Kelly Briscoe Mallette of Hattiesburg, MS, William "Bill" Briscoe of Biloxi, O'Neil Adams of Biloxi, and Richard Moreta of Brooklyn, NY;and five great-grandchildren.The service was on Monday, April 18, at 9:15 a.m. in the Riemann Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, with full military honors, followed at 10 a.m. at the Biloxi National Cemetery.The family prefers donations to the American Cancer Society, 417 Security Square, Gulfport, MS 39507.An online guest book may be viewed and signed at riemannfuneralhomes.com.
