Funeral service for Jack Aaron Adams age 97, who passed away on September 10, 2012, will be held on Wednesday September 12, 2012 10:00 AM at Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday with Bro Tony Ganey Officiating.
Interment will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 to service time at the Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mr. Adams was born on September 10, 1915 in Roseboro, Ark to Simpson Hosea and Jerusha Bankston Adams. He entered heaven on his birthday September 10, 2012. He was the second child in a family of 8 children.
He moved to Bastrop, LA at the age of 11 years, where he grew into a young man. This was during the great depression era, they were poor farmers. In his third year of high school he had to quit, to help support his family.
During his lifetime he worked on a farm, hauled pulp wood, worked in a grocery store, dredge boat on the Mississippi River, drove a trailways bus, worked on the Railroad section crew, served 38 months in the United States Navy on a Navy Destroyer during WWII, he was a roughneck on a drilling rig, owned and operated an offshore wire line business for 25 years as well as Rowlin-Adams Automotive dealership in Natchez, MS. In 1943 he married the love of his life Clara Cereste Rabb. The Lord gave us 5 beautiful children.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ferriday where he served as Deacon. Former past President of the Natchez Kiwanis Club, former member of the Ferriday Kiwanis Club, a charter member of the Ferriday Country Club as well as a 32 degree Mason. In 1938 he and his brother rode a freight train to Sacramento CA and back on 30 dollars. He lived most of his life in Concordia Parish where he could enjoy his hobbies of hunting and fishing.
"The Lord has blessed me with a long and happy life, a loving family and wonderful friends. There is no reason for tears at my funeral, just rejoice for me and the happy life I have lived."
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Clara Adams, precious son Theo Rabb Adams, parents, three sisters Jane Adams, Nell Goodyear, Mary Jane Bradshaw, and three brothers Billy Joe Adams, Bob Adams, and Jackob Adams.
Survivors include two daughters Jackie Adams Young and husband Leo, Clara Brown, two sons Buddy Adams and wife Mary Ann and Tim Adams and wife Nola,and his very special friend Frenchie Smith. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren 9 Great grandchildren and 2 Great Great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Joe Irvin, Morris Rabb, Mike Rabb, Hobbs Brown, Aaron Mulvihill, and Daniel Mulvihill.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Deacons of the First Baptist Church of Ferriday.
