Loran Leon Adams, Jr. age 41 years of Iberia, Mo. passed away early Tuesday morning, April 26, 1977 near Marys Home, Mo. enroute to Charles E. Still Hospital in Jefferson City, Mo. after suffering a heart attack earlier that morning.
Mr. Adams was born August 22, 1935 in Springfield, MO., the son of Loran Leon and Erma Grethel (Casey) Adams, Sr. He was united in marriage on May 25, 1957 in Schubert, Mo. by Rev. Wein to Elaine Edna Schulenberg, who survives of the home.
Mr. Adams lived most all of his life in the Iberia, Mo. area. He was employed at Fort Leonard Wood with Transportation and Troop Transport. In March of 1972 he opened Adams Market in Iberia, Mo. Mr. Adams served in the United States Army in Korea. He had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Iberia since being baptized at age 12; also the National Association of Government Employees, Iberia Khoury League, Iberia Masonic Lodge number 410 AF and AM, Iberia Order of the Eastern Star number 537, the Iberia Athletic Booster Club and served on the Iberia R-V School Board for 9 years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Grethel Adams on November 4, 1944.
Surviving other than his wife, Elaine, are 1 son, Raymond Leon Adams of the home; 2 daughters, Mrs. Charlotte M. Moore of Iberia, MO. and Cheryl E. Adams of the home; father and stepmother, Loran Leon Adams, Sr. and Betty Adams of Iberia, Mo.; 1 sister, Mrs. Ann Foster of Camdenton, Mo. and 1 step sister, Mrs. Donna Groves of Iberia, Mo.
Masonic services were held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 28 by Iberia Lodge number 410. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 29, 1977 at the First Baptist Church in Iberia with Rev. Steve Shepherd and Rev. James Hill officiating. Interment was in the Iberia Cemetery under the direction of the Stevinson Funeral Home of Iberia, Mo. Military graveside rites were held at the cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Iberia Athletic Booster Club in care of the Bank of Iberia. Active pallbearers were Raymond Beard, F.G. Shackleford, Leon Livingston, Danny Jones, Roger Hammack, Bud DeVore, Roger Bond and Jim Gardner. Honorary pallbearers were Jackie Fancher, Jack Fancher, Ken McDonald, John Grady, B.C. Livingston, Roy Keeth and Masons and fort Leonard Wood Workers.
