"Services for Elmer C. Adams, 80, El Dorado Springs, formerly of the Bates City community, were Oct. 31 at the Bates City Community Church. The Rev. Richard A. Smith, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Concord Cemetery, south of Bates City.

Mr. Adams, a retired farmer and stockman, died Oct. 28 at the Cedar County Memorial hospital, El Dorado Springs.

Elmer C. Adams, son of Betty Susan McCormick and James Edward Adams, was born March 25, 1892, at Bates City. He and Iris Bertha Roles of Blue Springs were married July 14, 1914. She died Oct. 7, 1951. Mr. Adams and Bertie Brown of Blue Springs were married Oct. 20, 1953, and they moved to El Dorado Springs in 1960. Mr. Adams was a member of the Bates City Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Bertie of the home; three sons, Jesse Adams of Coolidge, Ariz., Nelson Adams of Seattle, Wash., and Howard Adams of Lovington, N.M.; five daughters, Mrs. Virdilla Moe of Chillicothe, Mrs. Betty Davis and Mrs. Joyce Tye of Odessa, Mrs. Irene Geddes of Meade, Kan., and Mrs. Joan Oliver of Blue Springs; eight stepchildren; 33 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Eva Mae Tye, died Oct. 11, 1956." Odessa Enterprise (Odessa, Missouri), November 2, 1972
