ILLNESS FATAL TO MRS. ADAMS
Former Operator of Elizabethtown Exchange Passes Away.

Following a few days severe illness due to asthma and heart disease, Mrs. Elizabeth Adams, 70, widow of W. D. Adams, passed away yesterday afternoon shortly before 3 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. E. Arbuckle, in Elizabethtown. Her death followed with seven months of her mother, Mrs. Mary J. Burns, who expired last February at the age of 90 years.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Elizabethtown Christian church. Burial will be in the Springer cemetery.

Mrs. Adams was born and reared in the neighborhood where she died, the daughter of A. J. McDonald and Mrs. Mary J. McDonald Burns. She was married about 50 years ago to Mr. Adams, and they lived in the Elizabethtown community for 15 years when they moved to Mississippi, where they stayed but a short time. Later they moved to North Vernon, but finally returned to the present home. For a number of years Mrs. Adams operated the telephone exchange at Elizabethtown, where she made many friends, both in her home town and in other places by courteous and kind service. She gave up that work a few years ago when her health became impaired. She was a charter member and active worker in the Elizabethtown Christian church, in the Ladies Aid society and in the Welfore club and the W. C. T. U. Mrs. Adams was well known and she was liked by all who knew her.

For several months Mrs. Adams had been failing in health and at times suffered severe illness. However, she recovered sufficiently to be up and about, and about two weeks ago she returned from an extended visit with relatives at Fountaintown. She attended a
homecoming meeting of the Elizabethtown church a week ago yesterday, being one of the 12 charter members in attendance. Last Friday she was taken ill again, and yesterday morning her condition became serious.

Surviving are four children, Mrs. Arbuckle, with whom she lived; Mrs. Katherine Higgins, of Indianapolis; Don Adams, of Elizabethtown, and Milton Adams, of Little Rock, Ark.
The latter is seriously ill and will be unable to attend the funeral. There are also four grandchildren, Ralph Adams, Jennie Frances Adams, Mrs. Mary Blake, of Little Rock, and Mrs. Hilda Sweeney, of Brockton, Mass., and six great grandchildren. Two daughters, Nellie Adams and Goldie Adams, preceded her in death years ago.
