Violet Adams, age 91, longtime Deming resident, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the Bee Hive Assisted Living facility.
Violet was born on August 4, 1921 in Liberal, Kansas to Amanda J. and David Thomas Staggs.
Violet will be remembered as a loving grandmother who loved to spend time with her family and friends. Crocheting and tending to her garden were favorite pastimes for Violet. Violet will be greatly missed. Violet is survived by a son, Marion David (Ann) Chrestman of Demingm a sister, Maudi Bell (Rex) Yoder of Texas, six grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Violet was preceded in death by her parents, two spouses, V.C. Chrestman and Orson W. Adams, a daughter, Barbara Babcock and three siblings, Joshua E. Staggs, David Thomas Staggs, Jr. and Irene Higgins.
A visitation is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Baca's Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 24, 2013 at the First Christian Church with Pastor Darrell Witmer officiating, and the concluding services and interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be David Chrestman, Cal Cook, Joel Pastran, Billy Burtnett, Gil Amparano, Matt Franco, Jimmy Garcia and Christopher Cook.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Violet's name to Ambercare at 707 E. Pine St., Deming, NM, 88030; 575-546-4664.
