James Russell Adams of Hiawassee passed away January 6, 2007. Born in Boatman, Oklahoma on February 29, 1916, he attended NE State College in Oklahoma, and was a member of united Methodist Church of North Little Rock, AR, and for the past 7 years he resided in Hiawassee, GA. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II in the European Theater. Before that he worked for Peoples Oil Company and later from the Postal and Railway Mail Service. He loved hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Vivian Adams; daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Tom Garrison of Hiawassee, GA; 2 grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 8, 2006 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Memorial park Funeral Home. Interment followed in Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family received friends Monday at the funeral home from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
