She leaves three sons, Melvin (Carol) Adams, Lonnie Ray Adams and William (Maynell) Adams; two daughters, Rosemary (Edward) Bolden and Cora Esther (Billy) Williams; one sister, Bernice J. Bowens; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and her only surviving aunt, Ruth Dixon.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Doris Lorine Eaton and Lue Gert Shell.
Bessie was a homemaker. She was formerly an at-home beautician that was known to travel to other homes to do hair when needed.
In her youth, she was a past member of Salem Baptist Church in Mason, Tenn. She later became a faithful member of St. Paul Baptist Church.
