Henry was the son of Aaron Adams and Cynthia Lea. He was a farmer in Washington Parish, LA, but after being accused of stealing hogs, he left with his father for Texas in 1847, where he was granted 160 acres in Jefferson County (now in Orange County). During the Civil War he served as a Private in Company B, 21st Texas Infantry. In 1868, He moved to East Bernard in Wharton County, Texas with his family and died there in December of the same year. Henry was a Freemason and was initiated into the Madison Lodge in Orange, Texas (which is still active) on December 31, 1865. He was married to Pricey Adelaide Cooper, daughter of Hope Hull Cooper and Sarah Holden.
