YOUNG MAN DROPS DEAD IN STREET
William Adam, aged 16 years, son of Gust Adam, 2119 South Fourteenth street, dropped dead at 7:20 o'clock this morning at Thirteenth street and Union avenue when an abscess in his throat burst and strangled him.
The young man had set out for a walk and was not more than two blocks from his home when stricken. It is believed he had a coughing spell and the effort caused the abscess to break and chock him to death.
Jacob Bayens, a farmer living in the Town of Wilson, was driving along the road and saw the young man fall. He hastened back and on seeing the condition of the youth called the police, who in turn notified Coroner William Van Zanten.
The body was removed from the place to the family residence in the police ambulance. After an examination the coroner declared death was due to strangulation.
The youth had been ill for a week suffering with quinsy, and the attending physician believes an abscess formed from the disease. Before leaving the house he had been seized with a spell of choking and coughing and his mother had pounded on his back to relieve him.
Last spring the young man was forced to undergo an operation for appendicitis and had recovered from that when he became ill with quinsy. He was strongly built and appeared to be 19 or 20 years old to those who knew him.
Besides his parents the young man is survived by five brothers and two sisters. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the family residences, Rev. William Wambaganss officiating. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery.
