James and Elizabeth were farmers. According to the 1860 and 1870 Pulaski census they had twelve children. In age order they were: Sarah, Elizabeth J., Joel, Elizabeth, Lucinda, Mivernia, Serena, Margaret, John, General, Mary and Jane. Jane was on the 1860 census but did not appear on 1870. She may have died or married young.

The son of James and Elizabeth, Samuel and his wife Nancy Jane Griffin Acton are also buried at Good Hope and posted by another Find A Grave contributor, Memorials 39326981 and 48904698. On the 1860 census they were in Dwelling 913 and James and Elizabeth in 914..
