SUDDEN DEATH OF MRS. SUSAN ACKLEY

Mrs. Susan W. Ackley, relict of Julius M. Ackley, dead eighteen years, was stricken with apoplexy abut half-past five Tuesday afternoon and expired within an hour. She had left her residence, 10 East Green street, and walked over to State street to attend to some shipping, and shortly after entering the notion store kept by P. Harris, she complained by feeling ill. She remarked that she would step into the open air for a moment and started toward the door, but before reaching it she sank down upon the floor and instantly became unconscious. Dr. Bishop, who was in his office a few steps distant, was called immediately, and under his direction the lady was placed in a sleigh and conveyed home, where everything that science could suggest was done to recall the vital spark, but all in vain. About a year ago Mrs. Ackley experienced a very slight shock of apoplexy, which passed off without causing her friends any alarm, and from that time until the day of her death she had enjoyed exceedingly good health. Her age was fifty-eight. The earnest sympathy and condolence of many friends is expressed for the sorely afflicted family.
