Adrian P. ``Abe'' Ackley, 49, of Dodge City, Kan., died Monday (July 1, 1996) at The Western Plains Hospital, Dodge City, Kansas.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Burkhart Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, with Father Matthew Le presiding. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. today at the funeral chapel. Cremation will follow the services. Memorials may be sent to the Abe Ackley Memorial Fund, in care of Burkhart Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.

Abe was born July 2, 1946, at Charles City, Iowa, the son of Miron and Ilene Lines Ackley. He was a 1964 graduate of the Osage Community School. He was a resident of Dodge City since 1982, moving here from Ottumwa, Iowa. He was a shipping supervisor for Excel Beef Packing Plant of Dodge City.

On July 3, 1991, he was united in marriage to Julie A. Simmons at Dodge City, Kansas.

He is survived by his wife, Julie A. Ackley of Dodge City, Kansas, two sons, Michael Ackley of Anamosa, Iowa, and Chad Ackley; his father, Miron Ackley of Marble Rock, Iowa; two stepsons, Paul Simpson and Tim Simpson, both of Moravia, Iowa; his brother, Neal Ackley of Northwood, Iowa; and a sister, Jeanie Paulus of Rockford, Iowa; and two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ilene Mae Ackley.
