Marguerite Ackermann Howell passed away on Friday, May 7, 2004 at the age of 89. She was a member of Laurel Heights Seventh Day Adventist Church where she served as Treasurer and the head of the Dorcus Society. Marguerite worked at Kelly AFB for 28 years, where she retired. Her family describes her as "Always there for anyone who needed her." She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Howell. Surviving are her daughter, Arlene Pittman; grandchildren, Sheryl Babiak and her husband Bob, Brian Pittman, David Pittman and his wife Cynthia; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild on the way. She is also survived by her brothers and sister, William Ackermann of Seabrook, TX, Douglas Ackermann of San Antonio, TX and Dorothy Eastwood of Fresno, CA. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 9, 2004 from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 10, 2004 at 10:30 A.M. in Sunset Mausoleum II Chapel. Entombment will follow in Mausoleum II. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VITAS Hospice or the Dorcus Society of Laurel Heights Seventh Day Adventist Church, 703 W. Ashby 78212.
