NEILLSVILLE Services for Arthur F. Ackerman, 88, who died at 4:20 a.m. Thursday at Neillsville Memorial Home, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Neillsville. ; The Rev. Richard F. Weber will officiate. Sharon Nemitz will be the accompanist for congregational singing. Burial will be in Neillsville City Cemetery, and friends will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be at Gcsche Funeral Home, Neillsville, from 6-9 p.m. Sunday and then at the church one hour prior to service time Monday. . . He was born Nov. 7, 1903, in the town of Pine Valley, Clark County, to the late Fred and Paulina (Marth) Ackerman. He was educated at Hillside School in the town of Pine Valley. He married Cecelia C. Hrach June 26, 1935, in Neillsville, and she died Feb. 21. 1978. He farmed on the family farm in the town of Pine Valley that his grandparents had homesteaded in 1864. He continued to farm there until the spring of 1968, but he and his wife continued to live on the farm until 1982. They then moved to Neillsville. He served as town treasurer and town chairman and on the County Board for many years in the town of Pine Valley. He also served as secretary-treasurer of the Neillsville Ambulance Service and was instrumental in forming it He also helped form the Rural Volunteer Fire Department and the Neillsville Senior Citizens group and helped the group obtain the building in which they are currently meeting. He was named Watershed Man of the Year in 1974 and was presented with the Outstanding Agri-Business Award in 1976. He also served on St John's Church Council for many years. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Marvin (Dorothy) Anderegg of Loyal, one sister, Mrs. William (Irma) Sollberger of Neillsville, and five grandchildren. He was also predeceased by one sister, Frances, and one brother, Cecil .
